Author Jess Butterworth visits Radnor House

14th Nov 2018

We were delighted to welcome children’s author Jess Butterworth to Radnor House school to work with Yr 7 and Yr 8 pupils when they were transported to Tibet and across the Himalayas into India to see the Dali Lama (in their imagination)!

On Tuesday, we welcomed author Jess Butterworth to speak to our Year 7 and 8 pupils. She shared her interesting life story, which has included time in Tibet and India, her childhood in the Himalayas were the inspiration for her two novels and she gave insights into how she comes up with her ideas and highlighted some useful tips for creative writing. She also brought in some unusual items such as a yak's bell, prayer flags and a porcupine quill. The pupils were very engaged with the talks and many of them are now enjoying reading her novels. It is always good for young people to meet adults with interesting tales to tell and we will certainly look to expand and develop this sort of experience in the future.
