Royal Ballet Company Ballerina visits lucky Year 5 class
18th Oct 2018
On Monday 15th October, Year 5 were delighted to welcome Josephine Holling (ex-ballerina at the Royal Ballet Company and Sylvie's grandmother!) into their classroom to learn about what it is really like to be a professional ballerina.
Year 5 listened in awe as Josephine shared her experiences of touring with the Royal Ballet Company. They were delighted to be shown the costumes of the Prince and the Sugar Plum Fairy from the ballet The Nutcracker. The costumes were wonderful to see; especially the crowns that the ballerinas had to wear.
A particular highlight was seeing the pair of pointe shoes that actually belonged to Darcey Bussell; she had even signed them. What a treat!
Year 5 thoroughly enjoyed listening to Josephine's stories and asking her lots of questions about life as a professional ballerina. They all had a wonderful time.
