Library

The Library is open from 8.00am to 5.00pm every day and is always staffed by one of the school’s librarians. Pupils are welcome to come in before school or during break and lunchtimes to borrow and return books, use the computers or to catch up with some work. A dedicated Homework Club is held in the Library and the adjoining Learning Resource Centre daily from 4.00pm-5.00pm, which is overseen by a librarian and a member of staff.

There is an extensive range of fiction books available to pupils, including graphic novels and manga, and an expanding non-fiction section to support the curriculum and appropriate wider reading. Pupils can borrow two books for three weeks at a time, and the books can be renewed as long as they have not been reserved by someone else.

Our Year 7 and Year 8 pupils come into the Library once a week as part of their English lessons, where they have the opportunity to choose and read books, and to develop the skills they need to make effective use of a library, both at school and elsewhere.
