Safeguarding

At Radnor House, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is our highest priority.

In line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2025, we are committed to ensuring that every pupil is safe, supported and able to thrive, and we expect all staff, volunteers and visitors to share this responsibility. Our approach is strengthened through close partnerships with supporting services and reflects a proactive, whole-school commitment to pupil safety and wellbeing.

Our safeguarding approach includes:

  • A strong, whole-school culture of safeguarding, with every member of staff, volunteer and visitor understanding their duty to keep children safe

  • Regularly reviewed safeguarding and child protection policies, supported by an annual safeguarding audit carried out by the Kingston & Richmond Safeguarding Children Partnership (KRSCP), alongside termly governor oversight to ensure continuous improvement and compliance with best practice.

  • Clear, robust systems for reporting, recording and responding to concerns swiftly, ensuring early help and timely intervention

  • Proactive strategies to protect pupils from contextual, online and emerging risks, supported by our PSHE/RSE curriculum

  • Close collaboration with Richmond safeguarding partners, including police liaison teams and local early help and support services

  • A coordinated, multidisciplinary approach to mental health and wellbeing, involving pastoral teams, counsellors, medical staff and external professionals to ensure pupils receive the right support at the right time

  • Operation Encompass: Radnor House is part of Operation Encompass. Our safeguarding team are specially trained to receive and respond to notifications from the Metropolitan Police when a child has been affected by a domestic incident. Operation Encompass
